The last thing anybody wants to do when spending time in Azeroth is feeling like they are at work. Unfortunately, with the gold required to buy everything from gear to mounts, all too often raising gold for the things you want can wind up feeling like a job of its own. If you are going to pay every month to play World of Warcraft, you want to be enjoying your time in the game, not worrying about where you will get the gold you need for the stuff you want.
Obviously the exact strategy for maximizing your gold will vary based on some choices you make for your individual toon. Things like which of the gathering professions you choose, or which skills you choose to develop will affect your personal strategy for making huge sums of gold, but there are some pretty universal tips to keep in mind.
Focus on efficiency. You want to make gold, you want to level, you want to find a way to do both at the same time. By getting all your daily quests and plotting a route that will take you through all of them while at the same time leading you to gathering nodes is a great way to maximize your time in Azeroth for the most reward possible. This will not only help you raise gold, but increase levels, which means the gold you will be pulling in will be coming in bigger and bigger chunks. Not only that, this strategy will help you reach the point where you'll worry less about gold and have more fun with the game.
Of course, as expansions and updates are released the game changes in minor ways. What is or is not hot on the auction market also fluctuates as the desires of the player base, and their valuation of items, varies with time as well. Keeping up to date with what's currently in demand can give you access to hundreds of gold in no time at all.
