The Mining profession is undoubtedly one of the top gold gathering professions in WoW. A good WoW Mining guide will walk you through the best mining circuits. Mining provides material for three professions: Engineering, Blacksmithing and Jewelcrafting. Having these professions isn't needed to be a miner. For some good gold making, sell the raw ore you mine or sell it after it's been smelted. Mining as with other gathering professions can take a while to level so finding the best mining paths and nodes is really important.
As with any profession the first step is to find a trainer. To help get you from Apprentice to Artisan skill level use the following list of trainers and their locations.

The first thing you need to buy is a mining pick. You'll generally find merchants selling them close to your mining trainer. The next thing to do is find a good mining vein. You'll find them near mountain, quest sites and obviously mines. Here's a list of the different ore you can mine and the skill level you'll need.
